Papers of Isaac Hodsdon, an Exeter, Maine, speculator who secured land warrants in Wisconsin during the Aroostook boundary dispute, 1839, consisting primarily of papers documenting his business transactions. Includes pension applications, military service records, and official rejection notices and land warrants issued by the government; tax lists, receipts, and land plats documenting his extensive real estate business in Brown, Outagamie, Oconto, and Shawano counties; letters from prospective purchasers; and letters from Isaac T. Beach of Appleton and George H. Wood of Green Bay, describing the progress of settlement, evaluating land , and the prospects of roads and railroads on Hodsdon's holdings.
